HALROW TOWN - 30 NOVEMBER 2008
A Cold day again but this time most players came more prepared, but we still have players just turning up with their kit and nothing else. Please ensure you bring a warm coat with you.
We started very well and played some good football during the first half. An early goal by Trey helped setttle our nerves and this was followed by another goal by Trey and one by Sam to give us a comfortable 3 - 0 lead at half time.
The second half followed a similar pattern with us having more possession and with them attacking us on the break. But the excellent defending, especially by Jake who gave a man of the match display, did not give them many clear cut chances.
They managed to score from a corner to make it 3 -1, but shortly after, Lukes volley gave us a 4 - 1 lead.
This Sunday we play Cuffley at home and I am hoping for another 3 points to move us up the table.
Score: won 4 - 1
Scorers: Trey 2
Sam 1
Luke 1
Man of the match: Jake

Lea Valley - 16 November 2008
Lea Valley v Minchenden Youth under 14's
Score: lost 2 -1
Scorer - Jay
Another good game on Sunday and although we lost it was exiting to watch. I hope that I will soon be saying that it was exiting to watch and that we won! Overall we played well on a pitch that must have last been used by a team of midgets.
Although they had a few attacks and Jeremy made some good saves, they didn't seem very good up front. They took the lead midway through the first half with a good goal from range. We held them for the rest of the half without really creating any clear cut chances.
Their defence seemed shakey and every time we put pressure on them they got flustered and usually kicked it off for a throw or a corner. We need to take this into account the next time we play them. They got another goal with about 15 minutes left to make it 2 - 0. We then changed our formation and went with 3 strikers. This put them under more pressure and we finally got the goal we deserved with 7 minutes left. We kept on attacking but could not get the equalizing goal that we needed.
My favorite move of the game was when Andy (Alex's dad) ran up the line with the linesmans flag and fell in the mud. Did anyone see it, it was very funny.
Next week will be more difficult as we are playing Enfield FC away. The following week we are playing Harlow Town, a game we should win. I will let you all have details at training.

Minchenden Youth under 14a v Upshire Warriors 09/11/08
Hi All
Great game on Sunday. Although we lost, it was exiting to watch and we were the better team, but we cant give teams a three goal start and expect to win.
We got off to a bad start when their number 8 with the afro sped past our whole team and scored a good goal. We then had a bit of possession only for them to break again and score.
But our heads did not go down and we applied pressure again coming close on a couple of occasions. Then they hit us on the break again and got their third goal. They had three chances and scored three goals!
We finally got the goal we deserved just before half time to make it 3 - 1.
The second half started well with us camped in their half and their players and their manager were getting frustated. It was good to see other teams paniking against us. It shows that we were doing something right.
We pulled another goal back early in the second half to make it 3 - 2 and I thought we could now go on and win it. The only time they attacked us was on the break and unfortunately in one of these breaks they scored. 4 - 2.
We pressed again and made it 4 - 3, but we could not get that 4th goal and just before full time they hit us on the break again and made it 5 - 3.
There was a bit of crowd trouble with some of the crowd (Jakes dad John) invading the pitch during the game, but the stewards and the police took care of it. I also noticed a bit of trouble in the crowd with (Jeff Sams dad) having words with one of their supporters, but is was just handbags and the police tear gas dispersed them both and order was resumed.
Goal of the game - Yaseef's stunning shot from 2cm (or was it Jays goal?)
Goalscorers - Yaseef - 2 Jay - 1
Final Score - lost 3 - 5
Man of the match - Sam
By the way Sam, their big number 8 asked me for your address after the game as he said he wanted to sort something out with you. I hope its all right as I gave him your details.
